Confirming the firmware version:
- Turn on the Nikon D300
- Press the MENU button and select Firmware Version from the setup menu.The camera’s firmware version will be displayed.
- Turn off the Nikon D300
Basic Download and Nikon D300 Installation instructions for Windows and Macintosh:
- Windows:Create a new folder on your desktop labeled D300 firmware.
- Download F-D300-V111.exe ot the folder created in step 1.
- Run F-D300-V111W.exe to create the folder titled D300Update containing the: A3000111.bin : the A firmware, B3000111.bin : the B firmware
- Connect the camera to the computer via USB cable (be sure that the camera’s USB item in the setup menu is set to Mass Storage), or use a memory card reader to copy the A firmware file to the root of the drive representing the memory card, and not into any folder on the card.
- When disconnecting a camera from the computer, use the standard OS procedure to disconnect when required.
- Insert the memory card containing the firmware in the camera’s memory card and turn on the camera.
- Select Firmware version from the setup menu and follow the instructions displayed on the camera monitor to upgrade the firmware.
- After the firmware is complete, confirm the cameras’s firmware version. Format the memory card in camera and repeat steps 4-8 to update the B firmware.
- If you changed the USB setting to Mass Storage, to perform this update, it may be changed back to MTP/PTP.
- Macintosh:Download F-D300-V111M.dmg.
- Double-click the F-D300-V111M.dmg icon to mount the disk image titled, F-D300-V111M.
- A folder titled D300Update, containing the following files, will be created inside the disk image: -A3000111.bin: the A firmware, -B3000111.bin: the B firmware.
- Connect the camera to the computer via USB cable (be sure that the camera’s USB item in the setup menu is set to Mass Storage), or use a card reader, and copy the downloaded A firmware to a memory card formatted by the camera and inserted in the camera or card reader.
- If the camera was connected to the computer, use standard OS procedures to disconnect the camera from the computer.
- Insert the memory card containing the firmware in the camera’s memory card slot and turn on the camera.
- Select Firmware version from the setup menu and follow the instructions displayed in the monitor to upgrade the firmware.
- After the upgrade is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Format the memory card with the camera and repeat steps 3 through 7 to update B firmware.
- Once firmware update is complete, confirm the camera’s firmware version.If you changed the USB setting to perform this update, it may now be changed back to MTP/PTP.
Modifications/Note for Nikon DSLR D300 Firmware Version A/B 1.11:
- NOTE: This update is for the D300 model only, and not the D300S. Do not attempt to upgrade the D300S with this firmware.Support for the AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR has been added.
