Basic Download and Nikon Coolpix 5000 Installation instructions for Windows and Macintosh:
- Click the download link below for your computer type.
- Save the file to your desktop for easy location after the download completes.
- Windows: Extract the CP5000fw18.zip file to produce the folder labeled E5000Update, containing the folder labeled firmware.
- Macintosh: Extract the CP5000fw18.zip file to produce the folder labeled E 5000Update, containing the folder labeled firmware.
- Connect Camera to computer (in MSC USB mode) or use a CF Card Reader
- Copy to the top level of the card the downloaded “firmware” folder (which contains the “firmware.bin” file).
- Insert the memory card containing the firmware into the Nikon Coolpix 5000.
- Slide the mode selector to playback mode and turn the camera on.
- A firmware update dilog will be displayed. Press the multi selector down to highlight YES, then press the multi-selector to the right to begin th update.
- At completion of upgrade restart camera (in Shooting mode) and confimr the firmware is now 1.8.
- Re-format Card.
Modifications/Note for Firmware Version 1.8:An error has been corrected that displayed the wrong aperture information when shooting in Manual exposure mode and the “Fixed Aperture” (from Zoom Options in SET-UP 1 menu) is set to “ON”.
